The wordplay uses a homophone (sounds like). Sounds like (we hear?) the ‘partner’ of ‘to it’ in Tu-whit tu-whoo, the sound of an owl’s hoot – I was surprised to find that both Collins and Chambers and all the online sources I looked at gave this as the only spelling (although I don’t think I’ve ever had to write it before) The answer is TUWHOO.
