Boy reflected about hot Indian food (4)

I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

LAD (boy) reversed (reflected), around H (abreviation for hot). Indian word for lentils or a dish made from them. The spelling “dhal” is perhaps more common and works just as well with the wordplay, so we need a crossing letter to sort it out.
