I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Times for the Times have:

LEAD (metal) HOCK (joint) with first letters switched (reversible faces) This was my last in, biffed. I overlooked the possibility of this wordplay device, because the faces are not ‘reversible’ here, but rather ‘reversed’.
