Nomad found in area between two large US cities (5)

I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

A[rea] between Los Angeles and New York. On skimming the Wikipedia article on the nyala I can’t see anything to suggest that they’re particularly nomadic, but perhaps Fed knows better
