I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

High(=senior) + j{udge} + U(=upper class from U/non-U) + MP(=politician). You could perhaps make the criticism that the def isn't clearly stated. Although the clue alludes to it being a competition, it's not a &lit as judges and politicians aren't the usual competitors in high jump.
