Star on the left with density rising far off (8)

I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

RED (slang for politically on the left), then W + D (abbreviations for with and density) reversed (rising = upwards in a down clue), then an anagram (off) of FAR . Red dwarf = a small faint star.
