Strange company taking on H from Steps (6)

I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

RUM (strange = unusual) + BA (I assume this means the airline whose full name is British Airways plc, but “company” is not the most helpful definition if that’s the case), containing H . For the surface, “H” is the stage name of one of the members of 1990s dance band Steps. The dance (steps) otherwise spelled rumba.
