Succeed in recalling number in European employment (5)

I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

N (abbreviation for number), inserted into E (abbreviation for European) + USE (as a noun = employment), all reversed (recalling . . .). Succeed = ensue = follow.
