Tree area rising becoming adequate (5)

I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

MAPLE (a type of tree), with the A (abbreviation for area) moving to the start (to the top, in a down clue = rising). I’d have said that adequate = enough, and ample = more than enough. But it’s the same general idea.
