The wordplay uses a homophone (sounds like). homophone (overheard) of IN A BAR (visiting pub) In my (worthless) opinion, this clue is miles below the quality of the rest of this puzzle. (Uh, kilometers?) (I mean, er, kilometres?) It fooled me for a long time only because I assumed something more interesting had to be going on. The answer is INNER BAR.
