Yearning without profit after drug high? Or checking out? (7)

I haven't cracked this one yet — but the brilliant team at Fifteensquared have:

Y [earn] ING without EARN (profit, as a verb = make a financial gain) after E (slang abbreviation for the drug ecstasy), then UP (high). Check out, as a verb = eye up = to examine someone or something. I’d spell it “eyeing up”, but the dictionaries accept either form.
